Ethical Leadership Youth Seminar – Lagos, Nigeria

Empowering Nigeria's youth to become ethical leaders of tomorrow

At Africa 10XG Foundation, we believe that Nigeria's future will be shaped by the character, values, and leadership of its young people. This belief is grounded in the country's demographic reality. Nigeria is Africa's most populous nation, with an estimated population exceeding 220 million, and more than half of its citizens are under 30.

If Nigeria is to fulfil its potential as Africa's leading nation, we must invest in raising a generation of ethical leaders who will place service above self-interest.

According to the United Nations, Nigeria is projected to become the world's third most populous country by 2050, making the development of its youth a matter of both national and global significance.

Nigeria has demonstrated significant entrepreneurial and innovation potential. The country has produced some of Africa's leading technology and financial technology companies and continues to attract substantial investment into its digital economy.

However, sustainable economic growth, effective governance, and social progress require more than technical skills and innovation. Research from organisations including the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme highlights the importance of leadership, accountability, integrity, and strong institutions in achieving long-term development outcomes.

Nigeria's future will not be determined solely by the skills of its young people, but by the values that guide how those skills are used.

Recognising this need, Africa 10XG Foundation is committed to helping young people develop the ethical foundations required to become responsible leaders in their communities and future professions. We believe that leadership development should begin early, equipping young people with the confidence, values, and decision-making skills needed to contribute positively to society.

As part of this commitment, we are proud to deliver a sample of our Ethical Leadership Youth Programme at Ade Gloryland College in Lagos on 19 June 2026. The programme will engage 100 children aged 10 to 17 through a structured, interactive learning experience that introduces key principles of ethical leadership.

Leadership begins long before a position of authority is attained; it begins with the daily choice to act with integrity, responsibility, and respect.

Participants will take part in facilitated discussions, practical exercises, role-play activities, question-and-answer sessions, and a book giveaway to reinforce learning outcomes. The programme will explore themes such as integrity, accountability, responsibility, respect, service, and ethical decision-making in everyday situations.

The Ethical Leadership Pledge

An important component of the programme is the Ethical Leadership Pledge. Through this pledge, participants commit to demonstrating integrity, taking responsibility for their actions, respecting others, and making ethical choices in their daily lives. The pledge serves as a practical framework that encourages young people to translate leadership principles into consistent behaviour at home, in school, and within their communities.

By investing in ethical leadership development today, we aim to contribute to a future generation of Nigerians who are equipped not only with knowledge and skills but also with the values required to lead responsibly and create lasting positive impact.

Nigeria must raise ethical leaders to occupy its position as the Giant of Africa.

Every ethical leader begins with a single commitment to do what is right, even when it is difficult. Together, we can inspire a generation of young Nigerians to lead with integrity and help build the future its people deserve.
